My choice to study Italian is ambitious of me. This describes my outgoing, challenging personality. I love learning different things and exploring all to my fullest potential. Going to Italy is on my trip bucket list for next summer. And Learning Italian will only make my trip better.
I'd like to think I'm an outgoing person. I'm willing to explore new things and places. Choosing to learn Italian ties in with me hoping to travel all round the world. So far I've only been to Spanish speaking countries like Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Mexico and Ecuador. I hope to make my way to Europe and visit Italy and France. This class should help out with the basics and I'll need to brush up on my French.
I find Italian a beautiful and melodious language that compliments the beauties of Italian riviera and its rich history, tradition, fashion, culture, art and cuisine. If Italian was a mandatory language in public school I would have chosen Italian instead of Education 1-6 as my major.
I'm a person who enjoy learning new things. Learning Italian is one of my goals I want to complete before graduate. It helps me to communicate with people when I travel to Italy and I can learn more about Italy culture. I can speak four different languages now, but I still want to learn more languages and their culture.
I liked learning foreign languages ever since I traveled around Europe as a kid. Between ages of ten and thirteen, I visited Germany, Spain and Italy. At that age I was able to pick up words and memorize phrases fairly quickly. I could see the advantage of being able to speak a foreign language right away. Many times I watched other kids and adults from my group struggle to express themselves in an unfamiliar language, or to understand what the other was saying. Oftentimes I would step in and translate, and that would solve the problem right away. Needles to say, for me it felt fun and rewarding. Twenty years past since that time and I had forgotten most of what I learned back then. But I still love to travel, and I plan to continue learning foreign languages. I find Italian culture and Italian language to be beautiful and vibrant. That is why I chose to study Italian in this class.
What led me to begin studying and pursuing the Italian language was the memory of my late grandfather, who had emigrated from Italy to America as a teenager. While I did not have the chance to get to know him that well (since he passed on when I was very young), I always enjoyed the stories my mother would relay to me about how my grandfather had taught her the beautiful language and how he would constantly compare life growing up in Naples as a young boy to that of inner city New York as an Italian immigrant. I have picked up a couple of words from my mother and know a little about the country's history, but I would definitely like the chance to learn how to communicate on a basic level in the language, and this course gives me the opportunity to do just that.
I have always been interested in learning about different cultures and travelling around the world to expose myself to these new cultures, and one of the places on my list is Italy. Italy is full of vibrancy and I would love to go there one day to experience it. After taking Italian 1 I became more interested and now that I have a taste of the culture I will be looking into spending a semester there soon.
The first time I travelled to Italy I was seven years old and even at such a young age I fell in love with the country and the Italian language. Since then, I returned to Italy once more and plan on going back later this year. My goal is to become fluent in Italian or at least to be able to manage simple conversation in Italian so I can be able to easily make my way around Italy without having a translator.
I have been studying Italian since the 7th grade to 12th grade and I have absolutely loved the experience of learning a new language. I chose Italian to be my minor because I wanted to continue learning something that I was passionate about during my four years at Brooklyn College along with the classes for my major. My goal is to learn and to be able to travel to Italy and converse with the people there in Italian fluently.
One of my goals this semester is to learn Italian. I am very interested in Italian culture because I have learned a little Italian back in high school but still not very good at it. I hope to become fluent in this language and travel to Italy some day.
I am studying Italian because my I am Italian on my mums side of the family so I want to be able to better communicate with my Nonna. I also have the ability to pick up languages very easily, and being an outgoing person, I enjoy speaking with all kinds of people as well as learning more about their culture and way of life. Finally, I have been travelling around a couple of places in Italy before and would love to go back, especially to Florence, and would love to visit Tuscany.
I chose to study Italian because it has been something I wanted to do since I was a little girl. I speak Hebrew and Spanish along with English, and I am ecstatic to add Italian to that list. I love to travel and I hope to speak the language fluently enough to be able to communicate properly when I visit Italy in the future.
I am choosing to study Italian because I want to improve my understanding of language in general - and to absorb another culture. I am very much interested in the classical history and hope to be able to visit Italy and specifically Rome. I hope that by becoming proficient in a romance language I will have a better understanding of language roots and possibly attempt to study Latin.
Personally, my choice of studying Italian is to have more knowlege about language as a whole. My drive is to be able to answer as many questions I have about the world around me; language is no exception. Adding to the curiosity, the culture and the food are just a few things that made me intrigued about learning Italian. After the semester, I'm planning on going to Italy for the first time as well
My mother is an Italian immigrant and I grew up in a very Italian family. My nonni would be delighted if I could have conversations with them in their first language. Speaking Italian brings me closer to my family and my heritage. I would also like to learn Spanish one day so having an understanding of Italian would bring me one step closer.
I have chosen to study Italian as a personal goal. My husband and I have had conversations about visiting Vatican City one day. Knowing the basic language would make it easier to communicate and get around when the time comes.
I chose to enroll and study Italian because of my desire to learn languages. Since high school I've had a passion for language; especially romance languages. I took three years of Spanish in high school and even after graduating, I continued to study the language. I was intrigued by the structure or syntax of that particular Romance language at the time. In mid 2016, I decided that I wanted to pursue another language, which led me to where I am now.
Another reason for wanting to learn the Italian language is because I'm an educator who works with children from many different backgrounds. Learning this particular language can help in the future when engaging with a child or a child's parent whose first or only language is Italian.
I chose to take Italian this semester because i've always been drawn to the language. I plan on going to Italy later this year and I hope to have some basic language skills by then. In the past, I've studied both Spanish and Hebrew and I'm excited about adding Italian to that list. In my personal life I strive to challenge myself in different ways, so I know that learning Italian will be a serious challenge for me this semester as I do not know a single word of it.
I chose to take Italian because I have always been interested in learning the language. My father and his family came here from Italy and I would love to be able to communicate with everyone in Italian. I have also wanted to visit Italy for as long as I can remember. I feel that knowing the language will make this experience even better, and I would love to be able to communicate with my family living in Italy. Learning Italian will likely be a challenge for me, but I am determined to truly learn and use the language.
For as long as I can remember, I have loved everything 'Italy'. My life plan once included retiring in Italy and living happily ever after. Everything about the country fascinated me, in particular the art, architecture, academics and culture. Italy has changed the world with the contributions from great minds such as Di Vinci, Michelangelo and Galileo, just to name a few. When I do eventually go there I want the full experience and I can't get that without first knowing the language.
I chose to study Italian because I've always been interested in exploring and in learning new languages. So far I have studied Greek, French and Italian but so far the one I've enjoyed learning the most is Italian. In addition, I also plan to study abroad in Italy next spring semester so learning the language will be very helpful
I choose to study Italian for many read but in particular one. I want to travel to Europe but I would like to acquire as many languages as I can. Secondly I was raised in a home where my neighbors on both houses next door are Italian. I picked up small words growing up. Thirdly I am fluent in Spanish and want to learn other Romance languages!
I choose Italian because it is my second favourite language. My first language is Greek and thus a close connection with the Italians and the latin alphabet intrigues me to learn the language and speak fluently.
I chose Italian because I enjoy learning new languages. I can understand Spanish here and there, though I refused to take another Spanish course. Therefore there is a similarity between the two languages, which I feel shouldn't be hard to learn Italian. Also in my future career I plan to become an FBI Agent and having the ability to speak or understand another language besides English, can help me within my work.
I chose to study Italian because I plan to travel to Europe and visit Italy as soon as I graduate. My sister is a flight attendant and she showed me pictures of the coliseum, the ruins in the city of Rome and told me about the history of Pompeii and the volcano that erupted 2,000 years ago Mount Vesuvius. Ever since then I've been interested in going and taking this course will help make my experience easier by speaking and understanding the language.
I'm a person who likes to travel and learn about different cultures. As Professor Fabio mentions, language is an excellent way to know a culture deeper and better. I chose to learn Italian because I live in a neighborhood where people from different countries are sharing their knowledge and conditions together. Developing a language is a very long process and each one of them is a box a treasures where history and customs are mixed throughout the time. Also, I'm a future teacher, I want to learn more languages so I can help my students feel that they are welcomed and cared.
